Tom Paine Festival
Back one page
Hugh Lupton, one of Britain's best-known storytellers, comes to Diss as part of the museum's Tom Paine Festival.
He and Nick Hennessey will present Liberty Tree, a history of dissent from Robin Hood to Tom Paine, at the United Reformed Church on Saturday 10th  January at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £5 from Diss Library, Tourist Information Centre or on the door.

As Paine was a staymaker, there will be a day devoted to 18th century underwear, also at the United Reformed Church, from 10.30am on Saturday 24th January. Admission is free. See the local press for times of talks.

There will be a chance to dress up and have fun at an 18th century evening of readings from plays, poems and novels, plus music, at the Friends' Meeting House at 7.30pm on Saturday 31st January. Admission is £2 at the door. Memorabilia includes: a CD and booklets about Paine's life and works, bookmarks, postcard packs and T-shirts.
