We had a really great time running lots of games at the Family Fun Day on 28th August. It was also a good opportunity to listen to other people's ideas about how our proposed new base could be used for the benefit of our whole community. If you would like to contribute to this conversation, you can contact us via our church website (www.dc3.org.uk). Our initial thinking is that we would like our base to accommodate a wide range of activities and groups, including sports. One very important criterion is that the building should incorporate ecological technologies – not only because energy is becoming more expensive but because we care about God's creation.
We are committed to all these different aspects of community because God shows us that love is very practical. In fact, next month our small groups will be running a series on the Ten Commandments called Just10. Far from being outdated, negative and restrictive, these God-given principles can guide every generation towards fantastically free, fulfilled and healthy lives. This comes across in the way that Just10 breaks down the Commandments into ten relevant titles. For example, 'You shall not commit adultery' becomes 'Affair-proof your relationships'; 'Honour your father and mother' becomes 'Keep the peace with your parents'. You can find out more about these timeless laws of love by visiting www.just10.org, or by dropping in on one of our Sunday meetings - 10.45am onwards at the High School. Imogen Adkins
