Christmas Windows - Results

Harleston Information Plus sincerely thanks all Harleston businesses who put on a Christmas window display, for the time, thought and effort they put into Harleston's Christmas festivities. All of them added something eye-catching to our Christmas shopping, and many were truly imaginative, ingenious and fun.

Our judges spent a very enjoyable "inspection tour" of all the town's windows to decide who should win the two hamper prizes awarded by the HIP Board for the best Christmas window - and would like to congratulate not only those who did Christmassy displays but also the intriguing nursery rhyme competition entries sponsored by the Harleston Christmas Lights Committee. However it was the Christmas decorations they were judging.

Highly commended were the displays put on by Bullock Fair Charity Shop; Cook & Co Delicatessen; No 18 Dress Agency; Lilypot Florist; and Sindalls Furniture & Removals.

As to the top windows, 1st and 2nd were too close to call, and the clear ioint winners were - Simply The Best, kitchen and gift shop, and Pen and Paper, stationers.

Simply The Best provided a Christmas playland to delight the children, and grown ups' Christmas cocktails theme to tempt the mums and dads. Pen and Paper very cleverly married their nursery theme with their Christmas theme with delightful use of colour. Both shops (as indeed had others) made imaginative use of the goods they sell in their shops; and their windows contributed something special to the run up to Christmas.                          Margot Harbour
