Library News

At the library our New Year’s resolution is to carry on buying and recommending good books!

If you are thinking about New Year resolutions you might like to read one of these titles; Andrew Price’s Slow-tech; Manifesto for an Over-wound World, or Brian Clegg’s Eco-logic; Cutting through the Green-wash which deconstructs thorny environmental issues to discover why they are so confusing. Those more interested in personal transformation for the New Year might like Julia Hobsbawm’s The Seesaw, which is billed as 100 recipes for achieving work-life balance, or Red Carpet Workout by Joe Fournier and Jordan Paramour; if you’ve ever wondered how celebrities prepare for their walk down the red carpet at film premieres and awards ceremonies, here is a quick way to shape up for your own red carpet moment.

New fiction in January includes a new title by Dennis Lehane: The Given Day and another one by Wendy Holden: Beautiful People. Simon Scarrow was one of the authors at Norfolk Libraries’ Year of Reading celebrations in December and his new novel Fire and Sword is out this month.

Baby Bounce and Rhyme time starts again on 7th January at 10.30 am, and continues every Wednesday in term time. These are ideal opportunities to visit the library with your baby or toddler to enjoy some songs and rhymes.

In February Norfolk libraries will be celebrating Love Your Library month, with events all over the county. Our first event at Harleston will be a talk on the uses of Acupuncture by Michael Flowerdew of the Beccles acupuncture clinic. The talk is on Tuesday 10th February at 7pm, and is free. This is a chance to find out more about this therapy before deciding if it is for you.
